What a Puerto Vallarta rental property can earn

Updated · By Chase Jordan

The short answer

It depends on the building’s rental rules, the season and how the property is managed, so I only quote rental figures from real owners or managers, with the source named. Before you buy for income, confirm that short-term rentals are allowed, ask for the unit’s actual rental history, and budget for management, cleaning, HOA and taxes on rental income.

Long-term vs vacation rental

Long-term leases give steadier income with less work. Vacation rentals can earn more per night but depend on the season (busiest from about November to April) and need management and cleaning.

What to verify before you buy

  • The building’s rules on short-term rentals.
  • The unit’s real rental history: statements, not projections.
  • Who manages it and what they charge.
  • Taxes on rental income: ask an accountant how they apply to you.

Real figures

I am collecting real rental figures from owners and property managers. They will be added here with the source named; until then this page gives no projected returns.

Frequently asked questions
